Indian Railways Rolls Out Mega Festive Plan to Manage Diwali and Chhath Rush
Indian Railways has introduced extensive arrangements for the Diwali and Chhath Puja rush, including thousands of special trains, separate station gates, protective shelters and enhanced RPF security. Here is how the festive travel plan will work.
To prevent overcrowding, pushing and potential stampede-like situations, separate entry and exit gates have been arranged at railway stations. The areas outside stations have also been covered with sturdy shelters to protect passengers waiting in long queues from scorching sunlight and unexpected rainfall. These arrangements are intended to make waiting more comfortable and ensure that passengers do not face unnecessary difficulties while entering stations.
Indian Railways is also operating several thousand additional festival special trains across the country to address the surge in demand for travel during the festive period. The additional services are aimed at easing the pressure of long waiting lists, improving the chances of passengers securing confirmed tickets and helping people reach their destinations without facing excessive crowding.
Security arrangements have also been strengthened across railway stations. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and dog squads have been deployed at different locations to monitor passenger movement and maintain security. A dedicated control room has been established to keep track of activities through live monitoring.
CPRO Northern Railway and TT Himanshu Shekhar have also endorsed the security arrangements and advised passengers to remain alert during their journeys.
The railway administration has appealed to passengers to act responsibly and remain vigilant throughout their travel. Passengers have been urged to immediately inform the police or railway authorities if they notice any suspicious individual or unattended object at a railway station or inside a train.
With separate entry and exit arrangements, protective shelters, thousands of additional special trains and enhanced security monitoring, Indian Railways is seeking to manage the festive rush while ensuring safer and more convenient journeys for passengers travelling home for Diwali and Chhath Puja.
